Beaches
I know, you want to find that perfect secluded beach, right? Maybe not the Castaway Tom Hanks type, but Robinson Crusoe style for sure, am I right? Well, chances are you won’t find that here. Maui is pretty well mapped out and tourists find their ways to all the beaches. With that said, here are some of our favorite (relatively) private beaches. Some of these places I couldn’t find addresses for, but you can Google them and a map will come up.
Maluaka Beach
Great beach on the Wailea side of Big Beach. It is much less crowded and a good place to snorkel as well as swim. The south end has a nice parking lot, but its a little tricky to find. Google Maps it.
Po’olenalena Beach
This is an idyllic beach with generally calm waters and sandy bottoms. Just watch out for the shark feeding grounds on the North side. Just kidding! It’s actually on the South side. No, no no…. hahaha. There’s isn’t shark feeding grounds there (that I know of).
Pa’ako Beach
Sometimes called “Wedding Beach” or “Secret Beach,” This place is not very secret. And its not very big. Parking is a struggle around here especially if there is a wedding nearby. Often times at sunset there are several wedding parties that show up here to get there pictures taken. If you do make it to Pa’ako, you’ll know why. It is certainly one of the most scenic beaches you’ll ever see.
Palauea Beach
A lot of people call this place “White Rock” beach. Probably because we’re there all the time and when I have my shirt off I look similar to Dwayne Johnson. Only, I’m a little paler in complexion. <– This also is my attempt at humor. Dwayne Johnson is literally more than twice my size (we do have similar tattoos though). Palauea is a locals beach. Just down from the Fairmont Kealani and surrounded by double digit million dollar properties, this beach is fantastic. Has everything you could want. Except a bathroom. And shower. And a trail to get to it. And a parking lot…
